Why is it so hard to get someone from MS to answer a direct question? They want a support contract to answer anything aside from "What is your name? I want to by their product and they still want a support contract just to answer that question! At first everything seemed to be going well, then after the first reboot, I was advised that Server R2 would not run on that hardware! Well that was a big surprise, because server is one of the options when creating a new VM under ESXi 5. Next day however, a situation arose where I neede to reboot the host. When the two servers I had attempted the upgrade with booted, they began the actual upgrade process!
When they were done they were running Server R2 without any difficulties at all! So the process was fairly straight forward. I hope this helps to allay anyone else's reticence. This topic has been locked by an administrator and is no longer open for commenting.
